The following provides an update to the April 10 Lift In Notice from the PEYC Executive related to the current stay at home order and the impact on Club operations planned for this spring. Based on the current Provincial stay at home order in place until at least May 20, the Executive has decided to postpone lift in planned for May 15. The scheduled date of lift in will depend on the lifting of the stay at home order and restrictions that are put in place thereafter. The Club has reserved the crane from Canadian Crane Rental for a number of Saturdays through mid June. It should be noted that Canadian Crane Rental is also restricted from operating for non-essential purposes. You might have received the attached letter from the Town dated April 23, 2021 which indicates that boat owners can attend their boats in the north parking lot noting that “All physical distancing rules and gathering limits apply at the Port Elgin Harbour.” However, it should also be noted that the Province’s stay at home order which includes non-essential travel restrictions continues to be in effect. Once the stay at home order has been lifted and subsequent restrictions (if any) are known, our lift in will be scheduled to give Club members approximately 2- 3 weeks notice so that you would have at least 2 full weekends to prepare your boats for lift in as was the case last year. When lift in does occur, we will no doubt continue with appropriate COVID protocols including wearing of masks and social distancing practices. That will include no common lunch tented area and other potential precautions. In addition, we will be conducting the lift in operation in a similar manner as last year by utilizing work teams in phases with restricted work zones. We will be in touch with you as soon as further information is available. Unfortunately, we find ourselves in a similar situation as last year but hopeful that we’ll all get back on the water in time to enjoy the summer.

In the meantime, if you have any questions, concerns or require further information, please contact Commodore Rob at

Thank you for your continued patience and understanding
